The 20-year-old granddaughter of Los Angeles police chief Bernard Parks was shot to death on Sunday night by a gunman apparently aiming at a passenger in the car she was driving as she left a fast-food restaurant, police said on Monday.
Police said that Lori Gonzalez was killed after a gunman fired at a 20-year-old man in the passenger seat of her car. The bullets hit Gonzalez after the passenger ducked, authorities said.
Police said the gunman, identified by witnesses as a heavy- set black man in his 20s, had walked up to the car after it left a Popeye's restaurant in the Jefferson Park section of Los Angeles.
